LYMPHATIC BY LAURA - Q & A

  • Brazilian Lymphatic Massage is a form of massage that involves stimulating the lymphatic drainage system of the body for the removal of toxins and excess fluids while also contouring the body.

The lymphatic system is the body’s main defense system. It consists of lymph nodes (lymph nodes), responsible for transporting lymph from tissues to the circulatory system.

Unlike blood that is propelled by the force of the heart, lymph in the lymphatic system moves slowly and with low pressure. It depends on the compression of muscle movements, deep breathing and massage to press on and move the fluid.

    • What are the benefits of Brazilian Lymphatic Drainage?

    • Improves circulation

    • Helps with bloating, puffiness, swelling and water retention

    • Reduces the appearance of cellulite + elasticity of skin

    • Sculpts and defines the abdomen, legs and butt

    • Improves digestion and weight loss

    • Helps with hormonal imbalance (menopause, PMS and pregnancy)

    • Boost the immune system + Boost metabolism

    • Helps with constipation

  • Lymphatic drainage massage is focus on stimulating the lymphatic system and moving the lymph fluid through gentle, rhythmic strokes to reduce swelling, boosting immune function, and promoting detoxification.

While regular massage addresses muscle tension, and pain relief.

  • 1- Take a shower prior.

2- Stay Hydrated – Having plenty of water in your system will allow the detoxification process to flow more smoothly. If you’re dehydrated, the process will take longer and might not be as effective.

3 – Don’t Eat a Big Meal: While you need lots of water before your lymphatic massage, it’s also best to have as little food beforehand as possible. If you’re unable to fast before your appointment, then you should try to eat only small snacks or small portions.

    4. Wear Proper Clothing

While it’s customary to remove your clothing during a massage so it doesn’t get in the way, not everyone is comfortable doing that, which is understandable. A two piece bathing suit is recommended in this case.

    5. If you are pregnant or just had a baby, please let our staff know upon booking.

  • You can return to your regular activities after your session.

    1. Be Ready to Move Your Body Afterwards. To make sure the detoxification process goes smoothly, we recommend about 10 to 15 minutes of increased breathing and. Keep in mind that it doesn’t have to be an intense workout. You could go for a little walk outside, or even practicing some low-key yoga.

    2. Rest and Relax. It’s common to feel worn out after your lymphatic massage because getting the toxins out of your body can take a bit of a toll at first. The following day you should feel good as new, though.

    3. What to Avoid. For at least 48 hour avoid: alcohol, carbs and sugar after your session; consume very clean meals afterwards and lots of fluids (water, tea, electrolytes).

  • Each session of Brazilian Lymphatic Drainage Massage lasts for about 60 minutes.

In a perfect world we recommend having 1 session done weekly.

Most clients: 2x/month when fir t starting then maintaining with at least 1x per month to address symptoms of fluid retention, bloating, swelling and cellulite.

Some clients require more frequent sessions and that will be addressed during our first session. This can be due to: pregnancy, lymphedema*, hormonal imbalance and post surgery.

    • a condition characterized by swelling (edema) due to a blockage or damage to the lymphatic system, which impairs the normal flow of lymph fluid. This disruption can lead to the accumulation of fluid in the affected tissues, typically in the arms or legs but can occur in other parts of the body as well. Symptoms may include swelling, heaviness, tightness, decreased range of motion, and recurrent infections in that area.

    • Acute Infections: Lymphatic drainage massage is not recommended if you have an acute infection, as it may spread pathogens throughout the body or exacerbate the infection.

    • Fever: Individuals with a fever should avoid lymphatic drainage massage, as it may increase circulation and potentially worsen the fever.

    • Heart Conditions: People with congestive heart failure or other severe heart conditions should avoid lymphatic drainage massage, as the increase in circulation could strain the heart.

    • Blood Clots or Deep Vein Thrombosis (DVT): Lymphatic drainage massage is contraindicated for individuals with existing blood clots or DVT, as it may dislodge the clot and lead to serious complications.

    • Active Cancer: Lymphatic drainage massage is generally avoided in areas affected by active cancer or cancer treatment, as it may spread cancer cells through the lymphatic system.

    • Kidney or Liver Dysfunction: Individuals with severe kidney or liver dysfunction should avoid lymphatic drainage massage, as it may increase the workload on these organs.

    • Skin Infections or Injuries: Lymphatic drainage massage should not be performed over areas with active skin infections, open wounds, burns, or severe eczema, as it may exacerbate the condition or spread infection.
